The “New Face of United Way” recognizes an individual who has displayed significant cumulative volunteer involvement for two years or less, or a single significant action that contributed to United Way of Gloucester County’s advancement.
Don Mattran
Compassionate and enthusiastic are words best used to describe this outstanding young volunteer.
As Employee Campaign Manager for ExxonMobil Research & Engineering's 2009 United Way campaign, Don worked tirelessly to encourage his coworkers' support for the annual fundraising effort. Under his direction, the ExxonMobil campaign team visited local agencies to see first-hand how United Way support makes a difference in our community and produced a campaign video to share their experiences with their coworkers.
Don helped organized an ExxonMobil team to lend a hand to ARC Gloucester and, thanks to their hard work, campers at Camp Sun N' Fun will enjoy a new amphitheater during their summer stay. The group also constructed ramps for easy access to cabins and helped with much needed maintenance throughout the camp.
To broaden his United Way experience, Don also served as an Allocations volunteer by participating in the decision-making process that links resources to community needs.
Don exemplifies what the "New Face of United Way" means, and we are pleased to recognize his contribution to our community.
