Mark is a 22 month-old boy who is enrolled in the Early Intervention and Toy Library Programs at the Shirley Eves Center. Mark was born with a congenital heart defect and had to have several corrective operations before he even turned one year old. Because of this, Mark and his family moved to New Jersey from the South in order to be closer to A.I. Dupont Hospital in Delaware, where Mark has been receiving treatment.
Sandy, a physical therapist, has been working with Mark for almost a year now, and Marcia, a toy library worker, has been visiting the family since last February. Marcia brings toys for Mark and his brother and sister to play with. Everyone looks forward to having new toys to play with every other week.
Mark has faced many challenges already in his short life, but he is doing fantastic today! Mom and Dad are extremely happy to see the progress he has made. Mark is now walking and starting to say lots of words, he even yells at his brother and sister.
